WiP Wednesday - Sock Yarn Blanket

I have some more progress on my Sock Yarn Blanket (although, to be honest, it isn't much).  I have three little squares completed and probably 1000 left to do....

This pattern is great, as it's quick and simple and if I put it down, I can easily find my place.  I also have leftover sock yarn, but it's in somewhat larger quantities.  Not enough to do anything real with it, but large enough that I just can't bear to throw it out.

So here is the current status:

Being Crafty - Home Edition (PCH Plans)

I have been reading this blog for a while, Cherry Heart, and Sandra (blog author) has really been an inspiration to me.

Here is a link to the starting point of this project for her.

I suppose I should preface the outline of this with the fact that I'm getting a new house and I want to take the time and energy to showcase and use my crafting as well as have some fodder for my blog.

I will be labeling my posts with the PCH (Pretty Crafty Home) acronym, so keep an eye out.  It might be some time before this gets going, but I'm so excited about it, that I wanted to share it here.

New & Improved - Blog Update Plans

I've been thinking to revamp, revitalize, and revive my blog. I had tons of ideas, but I didn't want to get too crazy, and I've narrowed down the list with the help of Mr. LIH (Life in Hollybrooke).

I will be doing more product reviews, including crafty products, yarn, books, etc, as well as more general items. I belong to some sample clubs and each month or so I receive new products to test and I'd like to write about stuff that really stands out to me, either good or bad.

My other plans include, some top ten lists, something that I'll call Monthly Menagerie, WiP Wednesdays (modeled from this blog), as well as my regular project posts.

I also have a new project to undertake once we finally get into our new house and I plan to document that here.

I hope that you will follow along with me and my quirky journey.

Ribbit Cowl Project - FO

I have completed yet another cowl, and like the others, I plan to have it available in my Etsy store. It's an improvised design, as I couldn't find something as simple as this. I hesitate to write out what I did, in case I missed something in my pattern quest. I will include it here for now, but if someone feels that I've swiped their pattern, then I will have to take it down.

Sorry for the yucky iPhone picture....

Pattern: My own improvisation (Ribbit Cowl)
Yarn: Crystal Palace Yarns Kaya - Spice Market (110 yds total)
Needles: US10 (6.0mm)
Made For: Etsy Store
Notes: I cast on  80sts, placed a stitch marker, and joined to form a circle.
Next I knit 5 and purled 5 around
I continued this until my cowl was approximately 8 inches tall and loosely bound off with a size 11 needle

New WIP - Sock Yarn Blanket

I have two things to pass along.

1.  I have an exciting (well, I think so) new idea in mind for my blog.  Once we finally settle on the contract and get our mortgage sorted out, then I will reveal what my brainstorming efforts have accomplished.  Let's just say that I got my idea from this lovely lady, Cherry Heart.

2.  I have started a blanket...maybe not my brightest endeavor, considering that I barely have time to read a few lines in my book or even keep up with the blogs that I read, but I could not resist.
Here is a peek of my first "square" and oh man, I'm already itching to make more.

Row@n eNewsletter - January 2013

Unfortunately, I have do not have any of my own content today.  Many things in my life are mixed up, swirled around, and inside out for now.  I have no time really for crafty goodness and I don't foresee any in the very near future.  We are in the process of buying a house (soooooo complicated) and everything we own is scattered all around (including my little kitties).  E is now 7 months old and starting to move away from the location where I put him.

But, what I do have is the January eNewsletter from Row@n Yarns.  Although I have not sampled many of their yarns, the newsletter continues to be something that I enjoy to read.  I can take a few minutes from my day, and focus on something other than my hectic life.

I am digging the Lovelock sweater....I even like the colors.

Also, if you become a member, then you have access to their library of free patterns....free = fabulous.

Happy New Year

Wow, December has been a crazy month. Between working, Christmas shopping, and traveling, I've been going a little out of control.

We flew to Texas for a whirlwind tour to visit family and friends, unfortunately, I caught the flu and little E caught pink eye and an ear infection. To say that the trip was a bit rough is an understatement. I'm still feeling quite a bit under the weather, to be honest, but E seems all better.

I did not accomplish ANY knitting, so I'm a bit sad about that, but I did take advantage of some of the yarn sales, which is always fun.

I promise to update soon with a real blog post that actually contains some knitting or crochet....and possibly some pictures of the great state of Texas.
